EPA to regulate 100,000+ ton emitters

This past week Environmental Protection Agency chief Lisa Jackson approved a rule to regulate heavy emitting facilities such as power plants and fuel refineries.

The ‘tailoring rule’ will require large factories that release over 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually to hold permit.

The new rule states that smaller manufacturers emitting less than 50,000 tons per year will not have to go through the permitting process.
